Louie Jay – Slippin

Today I’m reviewing Louie Jay. The song is called Slippin’ Scene 1.
When this song first started, I thought it was love song, and I was digging it. Love songs really aren’t my thing, but it’s good to hear one every once in a while, especially when its rap based and not some auto tuned fake RnB jam. As the song started to build and the story started to play out, I became invested in the lyrics and what was happening. I could visualize the scenario in my head and then I remembered Louie Jay was kind enough to send me the video as well, so I rushed over to YouTube and checked it out and I was thrilled to see his vision was similar to what I was seeing in my own mind.
The average listener is not going to expect this drastic change in the story, Hell, even I wasn’t expecting this to happen. Louie Jay starts the song off as a ladies’ man, pouring drinks and being a gentleman and not even 2 minutes into the date someone tries to murder him Haha. I’m invested now, I have so many questions for part 2, does he continue the date after that event? does she even want to mess with Louie Jay any more after that? haha
The beat was pretty decent, not my all-time favorite beat but it was nice for this story. The great thing for me is a beat doesn’t make the song great the rap does, and as a fan of storytelling I think this one has everything it needs. When you listen to story telling you want the song to paint a picture, you want to be able to see the video without seeing the video. Louie Jay seems to have mastered that easily in this song.
