Anna Slinning – Try

2 min read
Spread the love

Today I am reviewing Anna Slinnings “Try”
The song starts off with such a beautiful instrumental , it has a slight hip hop feel to it when the drums come in that gives it a wonderful current pop feel. The first thing I thought when I heard the vocal was “WOW” what a gorgeous voice. I honestly wasn’t expecting anything so pro sounding. I have to say her voice is one of the better voices I have heard recently. It’s not drowned out in FX or layered 100 times to sound full, i honestly believe she is just a rare genuine talent. I would love to work with Anna anyday of the week, to be honest the beat maker, who I am assuming is Ruben who is listed as well on the creation credit, is great him self, what a duo!!! I do notice as the beat goes on it gets a little electronic sounding during the breakdown and it slightly takes away from the pop sound that I am used to hearing on the radio. The build up in the beat is really good and has you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what Anna is going to do vocally. Her voice seems so familiar to me, like I have heard it before but I cant pin point who it reminds me off.
The Overall written words are honestly perfect. When I ask , I was told the song is about a break up , and trying to learn to love again. I’m thinking that Anna actually did go through a break up and this is coming straight from her heart. Moving on to a new love is very difficult as the song says “can I trust you ?” “You gotta try ‘ . the first words are “They say don’t fall in love” “it crushes you deep inside, it’s best to stay by yourself” Anna has it right though, You should try to love again even if you put your self in a position that may be uncomfortable emotionally. The more I listen the more I love the chorus, although the sounds behind the chorus and in the bridge still haven’t grown on me. Anna is just a great song writer . I’m on my 5th listen and I’m sure that anyone going threw a break up who may feel lost or hopeless, not good enough, unable to love or any of the millions of feelings and thoughts you deal with can listen to this song and easily crack a smile and say you know what… you gotta try..
It’s actually a very inspirational song…
