Over the years of my musical en devours I’ve made it a point to always have music videos. Ever since 2004 I have been creating and releasing music videos to go along with my audio. as time passed I personally think my videos got better and better. The problem was my editing stayed the same, I had this problem, a problem that terrorized my work, as soon as I was done filming the video I would rush to the lab and edit it in 1 day , hours even. I would be so excited to show my work to the world that I would neglect the actual footage. 15 years later I am plagued by the same bad habits, the same actions, the same tendencies. Sure I still pull decent numbers for some local rapper who has been holding on to hip hop by a balloon string hoping there is enough helium for one last ride to the top , but in reality every one else was getting better and better while I just stayed the exact same.   One day along came Taylor Graves, I’ve known him for ever, we’ve made some tracks in the past, had a fun photo contest with our cameras in which he beat the dog shit out of me every time in , the man is good. Taylor started dabbling in video, he wasn’t afraid to learn, he wasn’t afraid to take his time, to create a vision that couldn’t be seen without the ultimate display of discipline. Taylor made me look at my own work and realize that it was poor, it was average at best, a simple color grade and overlays were no longer working. With out motion graphics, and beautiful transitions, scribbles, glitches, everything the new wave of hot music demands you will fall behind in this ever changing culture of hip hop. That’s exactly what happened to me, I fell behind, I felt that I KNEW WHAT WORKED, I was wrong, I didn’t know at all because I was still in a old way of working. I had the same tools I had in 2014, tools change, jobs get harder, I can build a house with a hammer, but I can do a way better job with a nail gun.
Taylor Graves inspired me to get better.. thankfully I have files to most of my recent videos and I have decided to completely re release the last 2 years of my content… I have teamed up with a video editing team to handle my re edits and hopefully my upcoming videos.. Taylor Graves has inspired me to be better, to do better. Inspired me to teach better and be more patient. Everything doesn’t have to happen right now, tomorrow is just as beautiful as today!
