sometimes as I scroll my 5,000 “friends” who I hardly know on Facebook, I often see things that make me wonder, things that put my mind in to overdrive and I often analyze their motivates. Why does so and so do this? This guy can really rap, so why does he do that? She is beautiful does she really need to post those pics, things like that. Today I saw a picture that really got me thinking. This picture is a common picture among younger hip hop heads who are trying to prove their value to other rappers and fans. The picture is of course the subject holding a large amount of cash as if they’re talking on the phone, or showing off how much money they keep on them. The first thing I thought was, “Damn, that’s a easy robbery” for one… their location was tagged, for two, I recognized the area, for three the area is a low income area off top, and a lot of people in that district are looking for a quick come up. I started to wonder what drives people to flaunt their wealth? I remember a picture that had a bunch of famous rappers and the only one who didn’t have any gold or jewels on was Jay-Z , who ironically enough, was the richest rapper in the picture. It makes me wonder why the wealthy don’t often flaunt wealthy, but the up and coming want to show the world how rich they are. I feel like Hip Hop has taught us that Money is the key to “winning” Hip Hop has taught us terrible money habits, terrible money management as well as terrible money investments. We have to realize that money is nothing more than a tool. A hammer can help you build a house, a wrench can help  you fix a car, and a lot of money can help you obtain freedom from a monetary society.
A good friend of mine whom I always look to for advice from a mature younger gen point of view told me that a lot of time that money isn’t theirs, that money is the “plugs” or the “re up” money. It’s the rent, or the bill money, but rarely “rap money”. His statement makes me think even more what is the enjoyment of poor people thinking  your rich, successful, or well off? If you’re rich why are you still in the same neighborhoods as these people? what is so appealing about low income neighborhoods and struggle? I get it , that Hollywood life isn’t for all, but living “hood” don’t work in Hollywood, like living Hollywood don’t work in the “hood’.                 It seems like every other day a rapper is being shot, killed, robbed, sued, going in debt, or losing their freedom. How much of it is because of Money, flashing, flaunting, or just being reckless with their newfound “freedoms” . It has to stop..

I want to make a challenge to all young up and coming rappers..

Instead of showing your money off… show off CAR TITLES, SHOW OFF PROPERTY DEEDS, SHOW OFF LLC, SHOW OFF BUSINESS LICENSE , SHOW OFF PROGRESS!!!

“If I do an investment, I want to do it something that’s big, that’s about that grandchildren money. That “my grandchildren can by straight” kind of money. Not that “buying the Benz and jewelry” kind of money. N*ggas that show money, ain’t got no money. They ain’t really got no mothafuckin’ money. Only mothafucka that could do that is Floyd Mayweather,” – REDMAN
