M-Positive – I’m Trying to Heal

So I was lucky enough to get another song from M-Positive.. I really love this guys work.
It’s kind of funny because I myself am a 39 year old rapper who strives to do mostly positive hip hop in hopes to inspire and teach, but often I get met with backlash much to the some of the first words in this song where M- Positive tells us a kid asked him “you’re old why you still rap” The Chorus is screaming to me that hip hop as a whole needs to be healed. We as the creators and the consumers need to feed better and eat better, I believe that this song is telling us our diet is more than what we eat, but what we consume as a whole, what we listen to , what we watch, who inspires us, changing those things is all part of the process that helps us heal.
I’m getting a huge Bun B Vibe off this song and to my surprise M-Positive told me that the beat is actually produced by one of UGKs producers which is really cool.
The first verse is very solid, I really love the line where he says he isn’t with the bragging and stunting… M-Positive is more than a rapper, he is a teacher. When hip hop first started back on Sedgewick aside from it being about the party Hip Hop was conscious, it was teaching people. M-Positive relates his life and puts it in terms that a younger generation just might listen and maybe take from it.

the hook is so catchy …
2nd verse I can relate to as a lot of my friends end up locked up for some of the stupidest things. I know if I let some of guys my age hear this they would agree every time they got locked up it was probably over some dumb stuff that , in the words of M- Positive wasn’t that serious. M-Positive is telling us in this verse to stop, think, give your self a minute to breath before you act out in anger, what a beautiful verse, this is probably my favorite verse on this song. I wish radio played songs like this over and over like they do songs about getting your opps an such, it could make a change if it was backed by mainstream media.
M-Positive is a real lyricist, no hard FX, no Auto tune, no fancy gimmicks , it’s pure truth ..
And let me talk about this beat for a second… This thing has my monitors beating my garage, the kick is so powerful, the vocals are sitting on top of the bass line perfectly great mix ..

What a fantastic song.. another one I hearted on Spotify and added to my personal playlist..
very glad to have found someone who still cares about the youth of this generation and hasn’t given up on them like so many of us have… Thank you M-Positive
