Symphomaniac – Dead Cat Bounce

Symphomaniac by Dead Cat Bounce sounds like the most wicked instrumental session I will ever be graced to hear. I’m hoping for raw edged symphony style wicked sounds that bring out a killer, adrenalin fueled madness in the form of music. The First song I hear is Tension and Release which I have previously had the pleasure of reviewing. such a wonderful song. for the full review you can check it out here..
I instantly jumped to Tourist of the Caribbean and WHOA this is really fun it gives me the vibes of pirates fighting off the coast of Nassau in a battle for loot and sea. The up-tempo vibe is really pleasing and just makes me feel happy when I listen to it. I want to reference Johnny Depp, but I wont, or did I?
Banjo Unchained is a strong Banjo lead instrumental that has a special place for my ears based on the fact I have lived in Kentucky the last 22 years and of course Banjo driven music is a staple of our state. This beat has a cool calm feeling about it, I wish the drums reflected that and this was slowed down a little bit. the chorus area is really intense with the sharp stabs and pounding drums I feel like it’s a war in the mountains.
Dancing in the Petrichor so far this is my favorite instrumental that I have heard off the album so far, such a beautiful melody and a nice vibe that doesn’t scream intense warfare. I can envision beauty when I hear this beat, although it does pick up at the end and becomes manic before going back into the subtle beauty. can this album be called SymphoManiac without some manic sounds. WHOA around 2:30 the beat shifts into this amazing display of instruments and I have to say I am thrilled to hear this.
Chain Reaction now has my attention due to the super funky bassline that leads the song into a blazing display of Dead Cat Bounce love for the drums. I feel like the bassline is fit for a Snoop Dogg song, but the drums are fit for a raging showdown in a dark alley, this beat for me is everywhere, it has my emotions flowing from left to right, I almost want it to stop so I can breath! out of no where a small piano solo and BAM back to a pure panic attack! AHHHHHH! haha what a ride that was.
This album was a thrill to listen to. My favorites by far were Chain Reaction and Tourist of the Caribbean. I must of been living under a rock to not explore the amazing sounds of producers who don’t create instrumentals to target rappers but instead create music that hallucinates the mind into picturing their own motion pictures while listening to the fantastic sounds from artist such as Dead Cat Bounce.
This was Dope…
