T Ledger – Album Review

T Ledger requested I review his DJ album , so I gave it a spin . The first song that playe3d was Gamblin, the mix was absolutely crazy. I’m not sure if it was mixed properly. I heard some lyrics, or talking in the back ground, but was unable to understand what was being said. It almost gave me a techno or EDM type sound. I could see this song doing well at a Rave or just a insane dance party.
Songs like Pedestal come in with a smooth and laid back vibe, with a piano that gradually speeds up in tempo. A rapper comes in whom I’m guessing is T Ledger. The Delivery of the lyrics are really monotone and have no kind of emotion to it. It gives off a more hip hop vibe that has some good lyrics, but is drowned out by heavy instruments that aren’t typical for hip hop music.
So far the work that has been presented seems to be heavy machine sounds that gives off a massive industrial vibe. My biggest complaint at this point is the lyrics are mixed so low I cant hear what the artist is saying. The song 8 bit is cool because I come from the 8 bit era. The beat reminds me of old school video games, but once again quickly escalates into a jumbled concoction of sounds that mesh together causing a chaos over the rap lyrics. I came across the song Bring me up and the flow was rapid and easily the best piece of material I have heard so far on this album. The Rapper excelled in a fast paced flow that fit well with the instruments. Plus the beginning sample was cool. I absolutely love the intro to Tennis, it had me rolling , and then the whole song is literally explain how he plays tennis, I have to say this one is creative, in my 20+ years in hip hop I never heard a song solely about playing Tennis. I feel like The Rapper is a tad off beat when rapping on these beats… The beat to Tennis is actually really good. Very well produced.
I’m not sure how I feel about this record so far. It feels very rushed, as I have been told by T Ledger that the album was taken down and he had to re record the album which may have something to do with the bad quality and rushed material. Down Ball has just came on , and once again the beat is fantastic, but the rap part sounds like someone is talking through the whole thing. I think T Ledger, if he produced these beats, is a better beat maker then he is rapper, and should really solely focus on the production as the last two have been exceptional pieces of material.
the album so far has been very different from most material I review, a mind of craziness is filled in these beats, and this 22 minute techno slaughter will cause people to dance into the morning hours if it hits the right rave.
I decided to take a listen to the I lived a lie album, and it seems to be the same style material. pretty good production as far as beats, but very monotone rappping.
If I could give any advice it would be to study your favorite rapper and learn Cadence, and emotion. Practice writing more complex lyrics, and making sure you are staying on beat.
the auto tune often makes your vocals sound robotic and shaky.
